Of course, my evap system monitor hasn't set to "ready" yet, but that can take hundreds of miles to get there, and only if you're lucky! I have the updated drive cycle from Subaru, so once I'm completely done with my e-tune, I'll give it a go. Well, as luck would have it, from the first map, my problems were solved. He said he'd toggle off just what I needed for my particular mod list, Stage 1 with EGR and TGV deletes, and we could move on from there if that didn't solve my problem. What he told me was that many tuners, himself included, toggle off a standard number of CEL codes in their base maps, regardless of your mods or stage, as a sort of template for their tuning. I went with another reputable tuner and we discussed some of the potential issues that could be a likely culprit. I'm thinking I'm going to have to see the dealer, which is a nightmare in itself.SCĪs it turns out, it was the tune that was causing my readiness monitors to stay in the red. Many times, the system diagnostics would set a DTC and illuminate the MIL for a potential fault that can be very diffi-cult to pinpoint. But,as many technicians have come to learn, nothing is ever sim-ple. Furthermore, every other person I've corresponded with who has an EGR delete does not have this problem. Theoretically, proving the EVAP sys-tem’s performance and integrity is straightforward. Cobb and several other tuners felt it was from my EGR delete, but that is now back in the car and working.still no joy. ![]() If you have a continuous monitor out of ready, even if it's the only one, you fail. You can have one monitor in a "not ready" state, usually the Evap System, and pass smog. Per everything I've read from my state DMV's requirements and the EPA's, it's either good or you've got an issue. That is considered a "continuous monitor" and does not require drive cycles to reach readiness. My biggest concern is the Fuel System Readiness monitor. a google search will give you a number of driving behaviors to try. There's a bunch of driving procedures you need to do before it can be ready, if you're just swapping tunes it will never be ready because that resets the ECU which resets the readiness monitors. Robert, by any chance is this vehicle E85 compatible Because I have seen skewed alcohol content calculations effect fuel trims and screw with the evap system. ![]()
